Old War - iOS8+ Game

Old War

a Tiled Icons Game born from a Cartoons like icons passion. Not a real "war like" game, even if the goal is to eliminate the opponents warriors in a tiled terrain world. As the first release of the series available here, a relaxing game for all the family, more rich of characters and objects but. A puzzle from one side and a strategy game from the other.

Game Guide

Old War

Old War is a Tiled Icons game where five families of farmers will become soldiers exiting their huts, and will fight with the possibility to increase their rank up to king. Other characters and objects will appear sooner or later on the scene, by making things more challenging. A game where you will be able to play complex strategies, or simply move and upgrade your warriors and see what happens.

Introduction:

The families are: Monkeys, Chickens, Cows, Birds and Pigs. At the start of the game you will be able to choose which one do you want impersonate. Each family terrain will have a different background color, and the random created initial scene will present you a land with trees, stones, wood, gold, water and several other things, as well as a Town, a Monastery and a Shaman's village. All farmers are in their huts, and you will start the battle dragging yours outside. Every family's uniform will also have different colors.

The amount of placed terrains, objects and characters will vary in accord with the device you are playing on. The smallest game field will be drawn on the iPhone 4S, the biggest on the iPad Air. In all cases the game field will be the device resolution double.
To scroll the game field, let tap over a free terrain, hold and drag around.

To move your soldiers from the huts, let tap over one of them, hold and drag it over a free terrain. Each hut contains five soldiers, and when it will be empty the lights will be turned off. The camed out soldiers can move again, but let please note you can reach another terrain just walking over yours. In other words, your path to reach the destination must contain contiguous owned terrains. If you reach a terrain owned by your family, the moved character can move again, otherwise not in the current turn. Once you have moved one of your players, the device will move the other families.

The six reachable ranks of your "Army" are: Soldier, Sergeant, Baron, Knight, Duke and King. Each one is more powerful in fight, but since you upgrade a warrior dragging him over another one, this will reduce the number of total warriors you own. Each rank can do things another rank can't. Below in this guide you will found a complete list of their features.

Since the game is rich of things, locate the Old Wise first. This actor, if reached in a terrain around, will give you valuable advices on what would be better to do first. Than take a look around and locate the other initial things on the scene.

Game Flow:

The initial strategy of the game is up to you, as well as the whole one. You can start the game moving all your soldiers outside huts and collect wood from trees, or move them outside and immediately attack an opponent. Do not forget to upgrade your characters moving one over another, and also to take a look to the Old Wise place. He moves over the field. When the resources will appear on the scene, let collect them, gold first if you still have a Duke or King.

Let continue to move your charachters up to when all of them can't move anymore (the already moved players icon will be more transparent), than press the "Turn" button (see images below), and continue to move trying to conquer terrains and eliminate the opponents. Let note but, you can advance the turn even if you have players that can already move. When the first set of things will appear, locate them in the case of need.

To move to an opponent means a battle, more strength, Weapons (or Rank) your player has, more possibilities to eliminate the other one has, with a litte casuality but. That's ensure (as in the real life), everyone can defeat someone. If your player won, you will gain the reached terrain, the opponent is eliminated and your player will become stronger and richer. At the place of the defeated one a tomb will appear. This object is just decorative, as the above described signs.

As mentioned, you can upgrade your warriors dragging one to another. A soldier over another soldier makes a Sergeant, a Sergeant over a Soldier makes a Baron and so on. Let think the ranks as numbers, the Soldier's value is 1 and the King's is 6. The maximun amount of the joined characters must be 6. Do not worry about the maximum allowed rank but, the interface will notify you if, for instance, you are dragging a Knight over a Duke (4 + 5 = 9).

When the Weapons will appear, let consider to collect them to increase the Warrior's strength, as well as some additional useful Objects (see below).

To move over or around an Object, or over a Special Character (see below), causes some action. If you are not sure if you should move over or around, try to move over first, if this is a wrong action for the Object or Character you are considering, the inteface will notify you.
